Gemma
The Grand Fromage
Gemma is the owner of the salon and has been in the industry for 20 years. Gemma founded her own salon Barber Black Sheep 13 years ago! She is known in the salon as “the foghorn” if you haven’t met her before, you would soon understand why we call her that! Her hobbies include Hiking, fishing and going to festivals/gigs! Her favourite service to provide at work is colour corrections and any crazy bright vivid colours! Fun fact: Gemma is VERY accident prone, so much so she’s missing a piece of one of her toes!
Barber
HR Director
This little diva is the real reason everyone comes to the salon! He’s 11 years old. His hobbies include side eyeing you from a cold corner of the salon, coming up to you but making sure he is JUST out of reach then running away and giving you the evil eye again. If you are special he'll sit on your lap and break wind on or near you.
Erin
Colour Queen
This is Erin, otherwise known in the salon as the “Colour Oracle”. She has been with us nearly 10 years having started as the apprentice in 2016! Her favourite service to provide is a colour correction, she loves a good challenge! When she’s not looking after her children - You’ll probably find her crafting, baking, doing DIY, trying to fix someone’s life or some other random hobby!
Marc
Knitting Grinch Lord
The mardy one, but don’t be fooled he has a big heart! He has been in the hair industry for 20+ years, however he’s been with us for 8! His favourite service to provide in the salon is any kind of red hair colours (of course as it’s his favourite colour) and he is an avid Pokémon go player! Along with being a Yorkshire tea addict, he also was taught how to knit when he was a child and more recently he taught himself how to crochet!
Antonia
The 'Salon Mum'
The 'Salon Mum' - Antonia has been in the industry for 5 years having started as a volunteer at Barber Black Sheep. She has worked abroad for several years in the past and been the manager of several pubs before she decided to follow her dreams and become a hairdresser. Her favourite services to provide are Wolf cuts and any form of copper hair colours. Her favourite hobby is reading, so much so she tries to read 100 books a year! So far her record is 87 in a year!
Kai
Barber Extraordinaire
Hi, my name's Kai and I'm originally from Birmingham. I first picked up a pair of clippers in 2018, which lead me to my first hair course in 2019. From there I worked in a barber shop, then moved into 1-1 counselling and reiki. Before coming to work at Barber Black Sheep I was cutting hair for the guys I was supporting in the care sector. Now I'm back in shop to settle into Lincoln with the Barber Blacksheep folks. I cut short hair, beards and do locs but at some point in the future I'll be stepping into cutting the longer lengths too. Outside of deep chats and hair, I like to read fantasy/dystopia books and like spooky paranormal stuff.
Bekah
Lil Lamb
Hi I'm Bekah - the spring lamb of the Barber Black Sheep team! I'm excited to be offering discounted rates for a limited time whilst I regain my confidence and speed. I'm Level 3 qualified and love any services that involve vivid hair colours. I love to travel - I've backpacked across Europe and have also lived in New Zealand for a few years. In my free time you'll find me at the front at gigs and festivals, from metal to dubstep! I'm a bit of a fiend for a Dr Pepper and love all things spooky and creepy.

Went for a hair cut today, and I’ll definitely be going back! The barber was so lovely, easy to talk to, funny and welcoming. He told me a lot about hair and was very informative with his knowledge, which was so helpful. I went for a restyle, and I’m so happy with it. I was slightly nervous because I’d never had a massive change to my hair before, but he was very attentive to what I wanted and made sure I was happy with each part that he did. Love my new hair, thankyou so much! :)

First visit today and won't be the last. Felt so comfortable, especially after some bad experiences in the past at other hair salons. Gemma listened and delivered. Left feeling super confident in my new hair and like a literal weight has been lifted. Thank you

Lovely hairdressers. Kind and friendly staff. Have been a few times now for cuts for myself and my daughter and always happy with results and service.
Recently my son has also been here for his first 'proper stylish' haircut and again the same experience, great friendly stylists and he's been back a few more times for cuts and always feels comfortable. Really happy going here. Thank you

I struggle with my anxiety and going to the hairdressers can be quite overwhelming for me sometimes. A friend recommended I come here and it was far better than I ever expected. The staff are lovely and great to chat to, I felt so comfortable and they did an amazing job of my hair too🥰. Also there’s a cute dog called Barber🐶✨

If you haven’t had a colour with us before in salon, then yes. Consultations cost £5 and we will patch/strand test and thoroughly chat through your options, ideas and hair goals.
WHAT IS A PATCH AND STRAND TEST?
A patch test is to ensure you don’t have a reaction to our product, and a strand test is to check the porosity, strength and condition of your hair but also to see if we can achieve your desired result.

WHO The hell IS BARBER?
Barber is our HR Director aka Gemma’s, dog! He is in the salon nearly every day so please let us know in advance if you have an allergy/fear of dogs. He is approaching 12 years old and now enjoys the quieter life in his old age so don’t be offended if he ignores you, but you may be graced with a small lick of your hand if he’s feeling friendly!
WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE
We use and retail high quality and professional products.
All our products are vegan and cruelty free excluding the Joico intensity range (containing beeswax) but we do also stock and use Directions as a colour range which is vegan and cruelty free.
Some of our products may contain traces of nut so please speak to your stylist if you have any concerns regarding this.

See our bio section of who’s who for you to choose! We have some stylists that specialise in areas different to other stylists. But rest assured, everyone is friendly, welcoming and experienced in their areas!
ARE YOU LGBTQIA+ FRIENDLY?
We have organically become a place for self expression across all genders and it’s something we are immensely proud of. No matter what your race, gender, neurodiversity or sexuality is, we are a fully inclusive salon. All clients are welcome to pop in and get a feel for the place before they commit to an appointment – we’re always happy to help!
We can offer quieter appointments and mirror covered appointments on request – please note we do need advanced notice of this request as there are days which are quieter in the salon.
